Energy recovery linacs as synchrotron light sources
Pushing to higher light-source performance will eventually require using linacs rather than storage rings, much like colliding-beam storage rings are now giving way to linear colliders. r 2003 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved. PACS: 07.85.Qe; 07.85. m Synchrotron radiation sources have proven to be immensely important tools throughout the sciences and engineering. In consequence, synch...
متن کاملLight Sources using Energy Transfer from Excimer to Line Radiation
Efficient energy transfer between neon excimer molecules and hydrogen has been found. A small, high gas density light source has been developed, emitting entirely on the hydrogen 2p-l s transition at I 21 .567nm (Lyman-a). Light output densities of lOW/cm2 are obtained. Electron beam energy conversion efficiencies of lO% have been measured.
متن کاملFourth Generation Light Sources
Concepts and designs are now being developed at laboratories around the world for light sources with performance levels that exceed present sources, including the very powerful and successful third generation synchrotron radiation sources that have come on line in the past few years. Workshops[1,2], have been held to review directions for future sources. A main thrust is to increase the brightn...
متن کاملLight Sources with Unknown
This paper reconsiders the familiar case of photometric stereo under the assumption of Lambertian surface reeectance and three distant point sources of illumination. Here, it is assumed that the directions to and the relative strengths of the three light sources are not known a priori. Rather, estimation of these parameters becomes part of the problem formulation. Each light source is represent...
